Let's make the future of healthcare equitable and accessible for diverse communities.
Erik Cardenas
Latino dad and entrepreneur

About my work
I've been navigating the vibrant world of healthcare for over 20 years. My journey began with a simple mission: to make healthcare accessible and personal, especially for the Latino community. This passion led me to found Zócalo Health in 2021, where we're redefining family medicine with a personal touch.
Before embarking on this adventure, I was part of the innovative team at Amazon Care, managing tech teams and launching crucial programs. I also have the honor of serving on the Rogers Behavioral Health Board, contributing to a cause close to my heart.
My path has been shaped by diverse experiences, from leading efforts at Amazon's COVID-19 response team to being a founding member of EverlyWell. Each role has deepened my commitment to making healthcare more inclusive and transparent.
I'm particularly passionate about amplifying diverse voices in leadership. I believe that bringing more women and people of color into decision-making positions isn't just right – it's essential for creating a healthcare system that truly serves everyone.

about me
I'm the youngest of three children, born to immigrant parents that moved to the United States from Mexico in the early 1970s. I grew up in Houston, TX where I was fortunate to watch my parents work hard for what they have. I started my career in healthcare after I was kicked out of Texas A&M University my freshman year. With my wife (high school sweetheart) at my side, I was able to build my career in healthcare moving us around the country in the process. We currently live in Seattle, WA with our three kids. I obtained my undergrad in 2020 when I graduated from the University of the Incarnate Word (San Antonio, TX) with a bachelor of science in business administration. I was full time student in 2019 and 2020 all while building Amazon Care, Amazon's broader COVID-19 response and while being a dad and husband during a once a century pandemic.
